Course Description

Challenging student behaviors and mental health concerns are rising at an unexpected and alarming rate in our school systems. It can feel as though our previous strategies are no longer working. In this program, we will explore the ways in which the pandemic and other environmental impacts have dramatically changed all of us as human beings. While understanding how we have changed and the impact stressors have had on our brains and our nervous systems, we can start to create effective strategies to help ourselves and our students be more successful and productive at school and in our communities. Educators and staff will learn evidenced-based strategies that can be integrated into the school day to support their interactions with students and improve the overall educational setting. Participants will have a chance to practice and discuss the strategies offered and be prepared to return to their school with a better understanding of what works for their students. This program is designed for anyone working directly with students in a school setting (K-12) including teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff.
