Course Description

This program is for K-12 teachers. North Carolina’s Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model is a framework for school improvement.  The framework is built around the six critical components (Leadership, Building Capacity/Implementation Infrastructure, Communication and Collaboration, Problem Solving Process, Multiple Tiers of Instruction and Intervention Model, and Data/Evaluation) in order to effectively implement system change at the district and school level. At the heart of the framework are four essential elements which are; implementation of a Tiered Instruction/Intervention model, Screening, Progress Monitoring, and Data-Based Decision making, that set the MTSS model apart from other school improvement frameworks. The critical components provide the necessary structures to implement the model, while the essential elements define what makes the model unique. The four essential elements are the actions or activities associated with the implementation of MTSS. Through the lens of the four essential elements, this session will guide educators to learn about the installation of NC’s MTSS framework for school improvement. This program will be instructed by Sara Newman.
