Course Description

North Carolina’s LIS (Literacy Instruction Standards) integrate literacy skills across content areas. Teachers already know that literacy is essential and should be developed along with mastery of core content. This scifi-themed session will chart new courses for the intrepid classroom captains who seek to boldly implement these new standards. Participants will experience model lessons, learn how to apply the LIS to their content areas, and collaborate to produce new literacy-rich lessons ready to take back to the classroom.
